What is a Cold Mirror?

A Cold Mirror is a piece of glass which has been coated with a special filter. The filter allows infrared rays (heat) to pass through the glass but reflects visible light.

Cold mirrors are often used in lighting where mirrors are used.

The filter itself is known as a dichroic filter and is made up of many layers of dielectric coatings.
